Jewish cousins David Kaplan (played by Jesse Eisenberg) and Benji Kaplan (played by Kieran Culkin) travel to Poland (a trip paid by their late grandmother who wanted them to visit her childhood home/country and see where she lived and learn more about their heritage).

David is an uptight salesman, husband and father who didn’t really want to go on the trip, but only finally agreed to go because he was worried about his cousin Benji, a freewheeling person wandering aimlessly in life. You can probably imagine the formula of the movie- the goof-off teaching the serious one to lighten up, and the serious one teaching the goof-off to take some things more seriously.

If you’ve ever seen Kieran Culkin in the HBO show Succession, you know his “screw it all” attitude that he does so well at- he adopts much of that here- There is some comedic moments in the movie as the two struggle to adjust to one other’s quirks. The actors are a great pair- and I would love to see them both do another comedy together. But with that said, there are some serious and poignant moments in the movie as well.

Bottom line, I liked it, and I would recommend it!
