The Diplomat is a drama/thriller on Netflix that is really good. Keri Russell stars as Kate Wyler, who is newly appointed as US Ambassador to the UK. Not long after she starts her job, she is pulled into intrigue and webs of deceit. She discovers a conspiracy, that might involve people in the UK government. She pretty much becomes a spy, running around holding clandestine meetings, trying to figure out who she can and can’t trust.

And in a fun twist to the show, she also has to frustratingly deal with her ambitious husband, Hal (Rufus Sewell) interfering with her at every turn. He was the politician before her, and he’s having trouble adjusting to the new norm. So, he tries to help her (mostly for his own benefit) and often makes things worse for her.

There are other great characters, such as UK Prime Minister Trowbridge (Rory Kinnear), a complicated, ambitious, and dare I say it, jackass. Haha. And US Vice President Grace Penn (played by the great Allison Janney).

I really like the show, and I recommend the show. Season 2 ends with a huge cliffhanger that I didn’t see coming! So, I am really glad I already knew they renewed it for another season, otherwise I would have been anxious to find out if we would find out what happened next! 10 out of 10.
