Michael Crichton published the book, and Steven Spielberg obtained the rights to the story and adapted it into a movie. I saw the movie when it came out in the theaters with my mom, and my younger brother. I enjoyed the movie, and I have seen it many times since then, but I had never read the book until a few months ago, because I wanted to see how it compared to the movie. So, how does it compare? For starters, there is very little that is the same. Sure, the plot is the same- about a group of people trying to survive a zoological park full of dinosaurs when they break free. Sure, most of the characters are the same people- Dr. Alan Grant, Dr. Ellie Sattler, Ian Malcolm, and so on. Sure, there are a few parts that are similar. But what actually happens in the book is very much different, and much more intense. And funnily- the description of some of the characters are different than how they were casted in the movie. For example, in the book Dr. Grant has a beard, and wears Hawaiian shirts while Ian Malcom is a balding man! In my opinion, the book was better in terms of the story, but the casting was better for the movie. But when you compare the original Jurassic Park movie to the sequential movies that came after that, Jurassic Park was definitely the best, and what I call a classic.
