This movie is a fictionalized account of what happened in mob guy Al Capone’s final year of life at his home in Florida, as his mind slowly started to unravel from neurosyphilis and dementia at age 47 in 1945. Capone is played by Tom Hardy. His wife Mae Capone is played by Linda Cardellini. Other actors also play real characters in Capone’s life.

In this movie, he begins having hallucinations, memory losses, and confusion, resulting in some interesting events happening (in his eyes). He also develops paranoia, thinking that the government is spying on him and his home, trying to find some millions in money that he apparently has hid, but has forgotten where he hid it.

His physician often visits under the pretense of treating him but is also secretly working with the feds trying to get him to reveal the whereabouts of the money. I don’t feel like I’m spoiling the movie too much, as there is plenty that happens that I don’t mention here.

What did I think of the movie? I don’t know, honestly. It was well done, but I can’t decide if the movie was good or if it was just decent. I also saw the movie several weeks ago, so it’s not quite as fresh in my mind right now. But I won’t say it was terrible because it wasn’t. It was pretty creative. Afterwards, I did find myself googling about it, trying to find if certain things in the movie really happened or not. It is very much fictionalized with many a few tiny parts that may have been real.

If you give it a watch, let me know what you think!
