On what started out as a nice day in May 2011, a violent and devastating tornado ripped through Joplin, Missouri without much warning and leaving the city in shambles. It was a rare EF-5 tornado that left a 6 mile long & 1-mile-wide path of destruction. 158 people lost their lives and approximately 1,150 people were injured.

This documentary movie gives you firsthand interviews by survivors along with their recorded videos of the terrifying moments when they encountered the tornado. They include storm hunters, high school kids who had just their graduation ceremony, an aspiring 13 years old meteorologist, a weather meteorologist, among others.

I think I vaguely remember hearing about this incident when it happened, but i had since then forgotten about it, and had not known much about it. So, this documentary was an eye opener for me as to how bad it really was, and how it impacted a lot of people. It’s a good reminder that we all shouldn’t be so quick to forget these incidents and the people that are impacted by them.

It was a well done documentary, and I recommend it to anyone who are interested in documentaries. Its worth a look!
