In 2010, an old and rich man named Forrest Fenn hid treasure worth millions in gold somewhere in the Rocky Mountains, and then he announced it to the world, saying that whoever finds it, can have it. He wrote a poem with clues for directions to it. And this documentary chronicles what happened next.
And what happened after that is a frenzy of experienced and unexperienced hikers/treasure hunters hunting in multiple states, with many people interpreting the clues differently from one another. People got obsessed beyond rational thinking. People got lost. People got hurt. Several people died. People got rescued. Law Enforcement pleading with Fenn to call off the treasure hunt for people’s safety. You also get a look into Forrest Fenn himself, what kind of person he was, how he interacted with people, and his motives.
I was hooked on this documentary; I watched all the episodes almost in one sitting. I was mesmerized in the treasure hunters talking about their experiences in this hunt, the videos they shot during the hunt, and how they felt then, and now. If you have Netflix, check it out!
