This series is based on a book by Elin Hilderbrand-which I did not read, but I might someday. It takes place in Nantucket at the summer (I think?) home of the Winbury family. Members are as follows: Greer Garrison Winbury (Nicole Kidman), a famous author, her husband Tag (Liev Schrieber); their sons, Thomas (Jack Reynor), Benji (Billy Howle), and Will (Sam Nivola). There is also Thomas’s pregnant wife Abby (Dakota Fanning). They have all gathered for the occasion of the wedding of Benji and his fiancée Amelia (Eve Hewson).

And what happens? Early on the morning of the wedding, Amelia discovers her maid of honor Merritt (Meghann Fahy) dead on the beach. The wedding is called off and it turns into a homicide investigation led by Massachusetts State Police Detective Nikki Henry (Donna Lynn Champlin), and Nantucket Police Chief Dan Carter (Michael Beach).

So, this show is pretty much a whodunnit, where twists pop up and secrets are revealed. Not surprisingly, the whole family are anything but perfect people. A friend of mine read the book, and started the show but could not get into it because it was very different from the book and over the top. I mentioned that it probably was best I hadn’t read the book yet, so I wasn’t influenced by it. I liked it just fine. But it wasn’t a show where I would be going running around telling everyone, “You HAVE to watch this!” But it was decent.
