I just finished this series this past weekend. I think some people were disappointed in the show because they thought it was lame in that it felt more like a kids show than a “true” Star Wars product (in their eyes). But I think that was kind of the point. It was geared towards a younger audience and their families. And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Some of the newer Star Wars movies may be too intense for some younger kids to watch, so shows like this, allows them to enjoy the Star Wars universe just like everybody else.

And that was the mindset I had when I watched this- I watched this because I will watch just almost anything Star Wars related. I didn’t (or at least I think I didn’t) have unrealistic expectations as to what the show would be like. I think someone told me that they had heard the show described as “basically the Goonies, but in Space”- and I don’t think that’s a too far off description.

In this show 4 kids (Fern, KB, Neel, and Wim) are eager for adventure, and they just happened to get it when they accidentally launch themselves in a ship off their planet into the vast space. Actor Jude Law brings some star power to the show as Jod, a mysterious person they meet on another planet who promises to help them get home, if they allow him to board their ship.

Thats pretty much all I can really say about the plot without giving any spoilers. So, let’s turn to what I think of it. Well, I think the disappointed people are right, the show doesn’t have the intensity or vibe of the Star Wars movies, and some of the other series. But is it bad? In my opinion, no. Especially, like I said, from the mindset I was viewing it from. Was it stellar? No. Was it terrible? No. There are a few moments that may make you cringe that maybe should have been written or done differently, but overall, it was a Star Wars show, and it was decent. In my opinion. So, it will be good for some, and so-so for some, and terrible for people who want more intense, darker Star Wars plots.
