I watched this a few weeks ago because it starred Sean Penn and Tye Sheridan, and they both are very excellent actors, but aside from the plot, I didn’t really know what to expect.
This movie is the story of a veteran paramedic (Penn) and a rookie paramedic (Sheridan), members of the New York City Fire Department, who work together, responding to calls day in and out.
It is a dark and gritty movie where the two paramedics are struggling with personal demons that slowly seeps into their work as paramedics, in an inhospitable environment. It is a very dark movie where you watch two men spiral out. I likely would not see this again, but not because I hated it. I thought it was very well done- but I think it’s just one of these movies that you just watch once, if you know what I mean?
So, my recommendation: watch it or don’t watch it, your call. But it’s definitely not a family movie, and there are a few graphic scenes.
