From time to time, I like to read nonfiction books as well as true crime books, and this was a true crime book I just finished recently. It is about the case of a young college student, Lauren Spierer who vanished from her college town in the summer of 2011.

This may be the only time that I give a spoiler- unlike most true crime books, this book does not provide a conclusion to the case, and I tell you this because I don’t to mislead anyone that it does. But what this book does- it is written by Shawn Cohen, a reporter who followed the case almost from day 1. It tells you the compelling story of his investigation into the case over a period of 12 years, the theories that came up, the people he interviewed and what they said. It tells you all the known facts about the case, and the questions unanswered. The strange details, the heartbreaking details, and the frustrating details–it has it all.

For anyone who has an affinity for reading true crime- I recommend this book. It is very informative and an interesting read. And for the sake of the Spierer family, I hope they get their closure sooner rather than later.
