I saw this movie several times over the years, and I just recently watched it again a few weeks ago, and it still is an enjoyable movie to watch.

Glenn Holland (played by Richard Dreyfuss) is a struggling composer who is forced to take a job he doesn’t want as a music teacher, to help support himself and his new wife, Iris (played by Glenne Headley).

And the movie takes us through the decades, as Mr. Holland starts to fall in love with the job and connect with his students. There are also great supporting characters: Principal Jacobs (played by Olympia Dukakis), his best friend, gym teacher/football coach Bill Meister (played by Jay Thomas), Vice Principal Wolters (played by William H Macy).

Also, being deaf myself, I enjoyed the side story of Glenn and Iris giving birth to Cole, their son who was deaf. This was something that Glenn really struggled to come to terms with, feeling like as someone who really loved music, he could not connect to his son.

I think this movie is a classic, so if you’ve never seen it, give it a check out!
