We are getting closer to Christmas- so let’s get the ball rolling on the first Xmas movie review! I bet almost no one is NOT aware of this movie. For me, it’s a staple movie that I watch every holiday season. I’m sure many of you do too.

Scott Calvin (Tim Allen) is a divorced father who is out of touch with his son, Charlie (Eric Lloyd) as he is obsessed with working, and does not get to see his son much. On Xmas eve, Charlie’s mother Laura (Wendy Crewson) drops him off at his father’s house for the night. The night starts off awkward and only gets stranger when Scott accidentally causes Santa to fall off the roof, and Scott is forced to take over the role of Santa.

It is supposed to be a secret, but Charlie can’t keep it a secret, driving his mother and her new husband Neil (Judge Reinhold) to think that Scott is delusional and brainwashing their son. A new custody battle rages as Scott is divided between fighting to see his son, and his role as the new Santa. I won’t reveal any more than that for these few of you that may have not seen it yet.

I love the fantasy of this movie and how magical the North Pole is. I wish we got to see more of it in this movie- we do see it more in the sequels, however the sequels were ruined by the weird plots that went along with them. But this first one is a great, and I believe a classic that should be on everyone’s lists of holiday movies to watch each season. Its heartwarming and gives off great Christmas spirit.
