A former White Counsel’s office lawyer is found dead in a park. The suspect charged is Jack Cutler, the former President of the United States. The victim was his alleged mistress. His lawyer is Rob Jacobson, his best friend since childhood. This is the plot of the book, and when I saw this plot several months ago, I thought, “Ooh, this sounds interesting- I think I want to read this”, so I put myself on the waiting list to borrow this book. And I just finished reading this book this past weekend.

The book is told in the first person, from the perspective of the lawyer, Rob Jacobson. I have a love/hate relationship with the first-person style- sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn’t. In this case, it works, and I really enjoyed this book. Not just because of the plot, but also because of the courtroom drama- I am a big fan of court drama books, and the courtroom drama in this book is more unique and interesting because, of course, it’s being told in the first person by the lawyer. There are several twists and towards the end, I correctly guessed the big twist of all, but I did not know for sure until the end of the book.

It was a good book- i think this author is new to writing books, but i hope he writes more!
