Hillary Swank plays Marissa, an alcoholic journalist who, during a work meeting is surprised by a visit by her police officer son, Toby (played by Jack Raynor) who is there to break the news to her, that her other son–estranged son, Michael (played by Madison Harrison) was shot to death. Since Michael was a drug addict, it is quickly written off as possibly a drug deal gone bad. But when she meets Paige (played by Olivia Cooke), Michael’s pregnant girlfriend, she realizes that there might be more to the story than meets the eye. She sets off on an investigative quest along with Paige, to find out what really happened.

I watched this movie last night and I would say that it is just OK. The plot is good, Swank, Cooke and Raynor did a great job acting in their roles, and the ending was good. But almost everything in between was just OK. There were some holes that I didn’t feel were explained or not explained well. It started out good, and then got muddled with different things that happened that either felt hastily added or could have been done differently. So, my verdict is, not terrible, but not great either. Which is too bad because the casting was great.
