Bruce Willis is NYPD Detective Jack Mosley, a washed up drunk who is no longer very effective at his job. One morning, he is given grunt work that nobody wants. He is ordered to go pick up a prisoner, Eddie Bunker (played by Mos Def), and take him to the courthouse for a hearing. He is shocked, when minutes after picking up his prisoner, random people are trying to kill his prisoner. He quickly learns that his prisoner is actually a witness who is scheduled to testify against a group of corrupt cops, led by Detective Frank Nugent (played by David Morse). He also too realizes he has to quickly sober up, protect his prisoner/witness and get him 16 blocks to the courthouse within 118 minutes while the entire police department tries to stop them.

It’s a GREAT drama/action thriller. Jack and Eddie have to overcome their dislike for each other and work together to try to stay alive. There are a lot of tense moments, as well as heartfelt ones. There’s not a whole lot I can really say about the movie that I haven’t already. I haven’t seen many movies with Mos Def in it, but I really like him in this one- he does a great job, and so does Bruce Willis and David Morse. They all bring their A game for this movie. Some of you will want to watch this again and again as I have. Check it out!
