I love this movie, and I have seen it several times. Charlie St. Cloud (played by Zac Efron) is a high school senior who is skilled at sailing, and getting ready to go off to college, when tragedy strikes, and his younger brother Sam dies in a car accident.
Devastated, and unable to get over his brother’s death, he shuts down and forgets about college. He gets a job as a groundskeeper for a cemetery, and he is often visited by the ghost of his brother Sam, who, too is unable to let go. And without spoiling what happens in the movie- that is what the movie is about- trying to live and trying to let go.
I think my favorite aspect of the movie is the whole ghost thing. I think probably for the same reason that many other people do too- the whole concept of being able to connect with your loved ones, even after they pass on is endearing.
I think this movie is one of Zac Efron’s best work, and if you haven’t seen it, I recommend you check it out!
