I watched this comedy movie this past weekend with the great actresses Shirley Maclaine and Jessica Lange. Demi Moore, Billy Connolly and Howard Hesseman also costars.

It’s a comedy story of when Eva (Maclaine)’s husband passes away, their insurance company accidentally mailed out a $5 Million check on the life insurance policy when it should have been $50,000. After comedic failed attempts to contact the Insurance company to correct the error, Eva’s best friend Maddie (Lange) mischievously convinces her to deposit the check, and they quickly jet off on a vacation to the Canary Island. In pursuit is Insurance Agent Vespucci (Hesseman) trying to recover the money, and Crystal (Moore), Eva’s worried daughter accompanies him.

The movie itself is not memorable, but not terrible either- the best part of the movie is, of course the comedic and excellent acting by Maclaine and Lange. Them alone, makes the movie watchable, even with the so-so storyline. They know how to be serious or funny at the right times. There are moments that make you laugh. There are tender moments too- but ones that are not dwelled upon.

Bottom line, you likely won’t hate the movie, but don’t expect too much out of it either!
