This is one of the books I finished recently. It’s a story that centers around a country club call Mayhaven in the New England area. It’s filled with drama, conflict, romance, and secrets. The main characters is the Birch Family- the father, Ned is President of the country club, his wife, Ingrid is a realtor in the area, their teen daughter Darcy works at the club as a day camp counselor, and their son Adam is an autistic teen who also works at the club. Another main character is the teen boy who lives next, door, Flick.

The book is told from the alternating perspectives of Ned, Darcy, and Flick. We see problems that arises from running a country club. We see conflict that arises from the upper class vs the lower class. We see plenty of teen angst. We see a character struggling with a secret trauma among other issues. We see characters turn out to not be who we thought they were (for good, and for bad).

This is a good story that could easily be a movie- I enjoyed reading it, and it had my attention from beginning to end. It had characters that you were invested in, and rooting for them, and characters that you hoped got what was coming to them. The author could have easily added more alternating perspectives, but I thought it was just perfect with the three that she had- you get the whole picture from just these three perspectives. If this story sounds appealing to you- give it a read!
