This is a story about a teenager named Caden Bosch who goes in and out of reality because he is struggling with schizophrenia. The author who wrote the book actually has a son with this, and I think it helped guide him as he wrote this book.
It’s written in an interesting format- one chapter could be lucid, and the next chapter could be confusing. Before long, you realize that the story is alternating between his state of mind- reality vs fantasy. His mind is waging a war, with one side trying to defeat the other.
It’s a very well written book, and easy to get into once you understand what is happening and connect certain things from his fantasy world to things from the real world. I could hardly put down this book, as I wanted to keep reading and find out what happened next.
I personally don’t know anyone who has or had schizophrenia, and I’m sure that it is a hard thing for people with it and their families to go through. This book maybe gives you a glimpse or an idea into what it is like for someone with it, and what their families go through. If you are a bit curious about this, I recommend this book. Its fiction, but written by a father whose son has it, and their family has been and is going through it.
