Some of you might have seen this movie or heard of this movie. But for those of you who haven’t, let me tell you what it’s about! It stars Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum, and Bill Pullman in a movie about alien spaceships suddenly appearing in the skies around the world just days before the 4th of July. What started as a collective reaction of confusion and fear, turn into terror as the ships start attacking the cities around the world.

US President Thomas Whitmore (Pullman), Air Force Pilot Captain Steven Hiller (Smith), and a smart man named David Levinson (Goldblum) are among a group of people scrambling for a way to fight back against the aliens. Basically, an action flick, and a good one at that!

What I liked the most about the movie, was the sense of unity and bravery. No politics- just people around the world banding together to fight to survive. President Whitmore’s rally speech just before a big fight with the bad aliens was one of my favorite scenes of the movie. There are moments of humor sprinkled throughout at the movie, that prevents the movie from getting too serious.

In all its a good movie- a good example of a 90’s blockbuster movie that we don’t see much these days. Look it up on streaming if you haven’t seen it!
