The tagline for this book is “What if JFK Had Survived?” This book is an alternative reality with a different version of events that may have happened if President Kennedy had not died- only, it does with a fictional set of characters. I’m going to keep this one short and sweet as there’s not really much to cover, as it is almost self explanatory.
In this book, on November 22, 1963, President John Trewlaney Cassidy was shot, but miraculously survives. The book chronicles his recovery, family drama, political battles, a dogged FBI agent’s investigation into the assassination attempt, and the people behind the attempt conspire to try again.
The book is filled with characters you like, characters you hate, and characters you don’t know how you feel about. Even though these characters and events are not real, I still got the sense as if it was, which made it much more interesting. At times, I even found myself mentally replacing characters with the “real” people they are based off. I really enjoyed this book- in fact, I read it twice. Once years ago, and then again last year. So, if political intrigue and alternate history is your thing, you might like this book.
