I don’t think that there is many people who have never heard of this show. It was a popular show that ran for 6 seasons that focused on the survivors of a plane crash that ended up on a mysterious island where there were more questions than answers. I think that there have been mixed reactions across all six seasons- whether a season was good, ok, or bad. There were parts that people liked, and parts that people didn’t. Especially the ending. I remember watching the ending with a group of friends, and there definitely were different reactions to the ending.

Eventually I might include spoilers in some of my posts, but I am currently trying to write posts that avoid spoilers, for the people who have not seen, or read the stuff that i am reviewing. So, I won’t go into specific details here. But let’s start with the first season of the show- I would probably say it was the best season out of the six. That usually will be the case with any tv show that run for several seasons, I think- but this show draws you in quick, and you feel almost (if not right away) like it was a special show. An excellent cast, and excellent locations that could make you jealous. a beautiful island, how could it not? And there was the mysterious element to it that kept you watching wanting to know more, and what happens next. Like the mysterious hatch. And I think that’s a formula they were good at keeping consistent throughout the show.

Another thing that fit well with the show were the flashbacks (and in some cases, flashforwards), that keeps feeding you pieces of the puzzle- pieces of their pasts. It helps develop the characters, and helps you understand them better. Could the show have done as well without that part of it? I don’t think so- I mean, maybe, but I don’t think so.

And now for the mixed reactions to the show and the ending- well, I think people have different reasons for not liking it as well as some others. Whether they had trouble understanding some parts, or some parts didn’t make sense to the story, or they had bigger expectations. For me, I loved the show. I don’t think there was any other show quite like it before then, or since then. Did I love everything about it? Probably not. Especially in the last season- I feel that they might have been in a bit of a rush to wrap up the story, that they did what they could do to quickly make every piece of the puzzle fit into the big picture. It may have been a bit nicer if they had the opportunity to take their time a bit more with it. And as for the ending- I wouldn’t say that I was over the moon with it, but I didn’t hate it either. I understand the creative decisions made by the people behind the show, so I can appreciate the ending- I have seen the series many times, and I’m sure I will watch it again at some point. I hope someone comes up with another special show that stirs up as much passion in the viewers like this one did. This was an once in a lifetime show, but hopefully that won’t be a literal thing! Give the show a try if you haven’t yet!
