As you can see from the image above- this is a movie about the United States Coast Guard. US Coast Guard Rescue Swimmer Ben Randall (played by Kevin Costner) suffers a tragedy and is reassigned to Alaska to train a new group of recruits. Think of military movies like An Officer and a Gentleman (1982), or Top Gun (1986) where you get a look into life of military members training- this movie is very similar to that, but about recruits training for rescues in the sometimes very unforgiving water. One of the recruits is Jake Fisher (played by Ashton Kutcher) who reminds Randall of himself when he was starting out. Which sets up for a dramatic story of clashing between student and teacher. A very good movie, that I have seen on repeat. It also has a very cool thing at the ending during the credits, showing footage of real US Coastguard folks at work over the years. My verdict- check it out if you haven’t already!
